Love stories hold a special position for Katrina who looks ethereal and plays a red haired beauty Firdous opposite Aditya Roy Kapur’s Noor in the Kashmir set romance drama, whose trailer and songs have been received well.
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif says the upcoming movie “Fitoor” is an intense saga of love and longing.
“The USP of the film is its fantastic and powerful theme of first love. It is a classics love story about fighting for one’s love. For me love stories have always worked. People can relate to such stories more easily than other contents,” Katrina told PTI in an interview. Katrina is very confident about the movie ‘Fitoor’, which is a modern retelling of Charles Dickens’ classic novel “Great Expectations”.
“We have ‘great expectations’ from the film. It is a very special film for everyone involved with it including me. I have seen it and it has come out really great. It is an intense, well-made film. I am very proud of it,” Katrina said.
The movie features the pairing of the 32-year-old actress and Aditya, where Katrina said Aditya has given a really good performance in the movie.
The actress said that “Aditya is wonderful in the film. He is so focused about his work. I was very surprised to see his seriousness. I think a lot of people are going to be shocked after watching his performance in ‘Fitoor’ During the making of the film Katrina’s shocking red locks caught everyone’s attention in the country and abroad at the Cannes Film Festival, where she made debut appearance last year.
Katrina said it was director Abhishek who insisted she get her hair coloured red as it is the hue of chinar leaves, an important imagery in the film. “Abhishek was excited about the hair colour. He was insistent. It is also similar to the colour of the chinar leaves. Red is also the colour of passion and love,” she said.
There was a major mid-shoot casting change in the film when veteran actress Rekha left the project and was replaced by “Haider” star Tabu, who now plays Begum Hazrat.
“I believe every film has its own destiny and journey. What was not meant for it will eventually not happen. It is for the best of everybody. Abhishek has brought it together very well,” she also when asked whether it affected the film.
‘Fitoor’ also starring Lara Dutta, Rahul Bhat and Akshay Oberoi will release on February 12, just near Valentine day.
