Humshakals Movie Review

Sajid Khan’s much awaited movie Humshkals released today, starring Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Tamannah, Esha and Bipasha.

Story: The man is called Ashok Singhania (Saif Ali Khan), is a London billionaire and he is the scion of a mammoth business empire. The conspiracy is the brainchild of their scheming maama KANS, played by Ram Kapoor want to take over his property. The uncle plots to send Ashok and his friend Kumar in a mental asylum.

Saif’s father is in coma and he and his friend soon find themselves in a mental asylum, because they turn into dogs. Kans mama thinks he’s won the corporate board game – but Ashok and Kumar discover helpful humshakals. What happens when mamaji’s humshakal also arrives? well, Humshkals is all about. There are some scenes in London and Mauritius, The banal jokes and the lame Pjs coupled with the muddled screenplay are clearly responsible for the royal mess.

Humshakals1On the whole, Humshkals tries too hard to make you laugh, but fails miserably. The story has little to offer. Other than stupid slapstick and illogical situations put forward as jokes, there is little that you can look forward to. There are three stupid main characters who crack the worst of jokes until they land into some trouble. And three women ( Bipasha, Esha, Tamannah), who stand around in various stages and squealing and giggling.

humshkalsreviewPerformances: Saif is the worst of all he is unconvincing as the man behaving as a dog, as the waitress. Just about everything he does in the movie is like nonsense. The ladies Bipasha Basu, Tamannah and Esha Gupta should thank their stars that they have been relegated to the periphery. Riteish is good in his all characters, Ram does a decent job of playing the mean mama KANS, and he has his moments.

piya keMusic: Music by Himesh Reshamiya is good. Songs like Caller Tune and Piya Ke Bazaar Mein are already chartbusters. Sandeep Shirodkar’s background score accompanies perfectly the chain of events. Energetic jhankaar beats style sound of Piya ke bazaar and Hum pagal nahin hai is catchy.  One must credit Sameer Anjaan for yet again catching the pulse of youth with his lyrics that suit the mood.  Himesh just did not manage to give us any great tunes and music of Humshkals is just average.
